USO Honors Linda Parker Hudson as Woman of the Year

April 28, 2011 - PRLog -- New York City, NY. (April 26th, 2011) –  The USO, along with military and business leaders from around the country gathered Tuesday to recognize Linda Parker Hudson, President and CEO of BAE Systems, Inc. as the 2011 USO Woman of the Year.  Hudson, a member of the USO Board of Governors, along with several female military leaders, were honored for their leadership and commitment to country in a luncheon attended by more than 300 guests at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel.  

Additional honorees included Rear Admiral Michelle Howard, Staff Sergeant Tannia Carter, Sergeant Sara Bryant, Seaman Judith Mae Boyce, Captain Wendy Sue Buckingham and Petty Officer Bonnie Lynne Wysocki.  

“Linda is the perfect embodiment of the ideals behind our USO Woman of the Year award,” stated Brian Whiting, CEO and president, USO of Metropolitan New York.  “In addition to being one of the most influential women in business, she has a very personal connection to supporting the troops and their families as the Mother-in-Law of a soldier serving in Afghanistan and the Grandmother of a military family.  Linda Parker Hudson also shares that personal passion with the 40,000 plus BAE System, Inc., employees who have a long and outstanding history of partnering with the USO to help service members and their families.”

Hudson was named one of Fortune Magazine’s 50 Most Powerful Women in Business in 2009 and 2010 and leads more than 40,000 employees worldwide.  She serves on the USO Board of Governors, the Association of the United States Army Council of Trustees, Blue Star Families Board of Directors and is involved with various other organizations.
