The Jazz Institute Darmstadt attested in January 2011: "Pianist Boris Netsvetaev, bassist Philipp Steen and Kai Bussenius on drums have long been among the young wild vanguard of the German trios. Influenced by the pop-oriented sound of Esbjörn Svensson, always sailing hard on catchy grooves and repetitive melodic lines, the "Hammer Klavier Trio" provides much fresh air into the jazz landscape."

All three members of the trio successfully completed their jazz studies at the University of Music and Theatre in Hamburg and received the "Dr. E. A. Langner Jazz Scholarship Award”.

The Hammer Klavier Trio performs at festivals like “Überjazz”, the 7th Hamburg Jazz Days or the Jazzahead! in Bremen which is the biggest convention about Jazz in Europe, but the members of the Hammer Klavier Trio are also sidemen high in demand, including the Quartet of German vibraphone legend Wolfgang Schlüter.

The debut album "Now I know who shot JFK" was released 2008 at the Swiss Jazz label Altrisuoni and was even reviewed by AllAboutJazz-New York (now The New York City Jazz Record) “The fleet, youthful ensemble is deeply entrenched in jazz’s 21st century incarnations, embracing genre-hopping styles, global influences and a devotion to collective freedom”. The second album, already recorded, will bring to light the electric sound of the trio
