May Day! May Day! Something funny is happening at The Castle Glanmire.

The Castle Glanmire has today announced an exciting comedy and musical line-up for the May Bank Holiday weekend.  Dubbed ‘Live at The Castle Glanmire 2011 ’ the events run from Thurs 28th April- Sun 1st May and will see top comedians Andrew Maxwell and Joe Rooney, popular Today FM DJ Kc and renowned musicians Frances Black and John Spillane as well as a host Live Bands entertain crowds. All the events are being held in a fully floored and heated Marquee with full stage, lighting and production.

‘Live at The Castle Glanmire 2011’ was officially launched on Wednesday by proprietor  of The Castle Glanmire, Ronan Murphy with some help from two time Meteor award winner and accomplished singer song writer John Spillane. The Cork troubadour treated all in attendance to songs off his most recent album ‘More Irish Songs we learned at School’ and some of his most well known hits including ‘Will we be brilliant or what’ and ‘Magic Nights at the Lobby Bar’ to give just a hint of what revellers might expect over the May Bank Holiday weekend.

Speaking at the launch Ronan Murphy said “Live at the Castle Glanmire 2011 is the foundation of an intimate music festival that we hope to build on over the coming years.   We have a fantastic line up of internationally acclaimed acts but without the costly tickets or the need for wellies. I think the line up caters for all tastes and The Full Moon party will offer something special for Saturday night patrons. It will be a huge event for the Glanmire area and tickets are selling well with a full house expected every night."

What’s happening?
•         The fun begins on Thursday 28th of April with ‘Comedy Rocks’

•         Finally to round off the weekend, one of Ireland’s best-loved artists Frances Black will appear with very special guest (and Cork legend) John Spillane.
