Rock U 2 School Hosts Registration and Open House April 30

April 27, 2011 - PRLog -- Ocean Springs, MS.  Rock U 2 Ocean Springs Academy of Popular Music, 624 Jackson Avenue, will host an open registration on Saturday, April 30 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Students who register on or before April 30 will receive $25 off their first month’s tuition and a free ROCK U 2 t-shirt. Door prizes and refreshments will be available.  Tours will be given, as well as instructor performances will be heard by visitors.  The public open house is from 2-4 p.m.  

The music academy located in downtown Ocean Springs is for children and teens interested in playing and performing popular music, and will offer private and group lessons in drums, keyboards, guitar, bass and vocals beginning on Monday, May 2.    The Rock U 2 program is designed for students at any skill level from ages 7-17.  The academy is equipped with a recording studio for advanced students to create demos and audition CDs.
Enrollment in the program includes weekly private lessons, weekly group rehearsals and quarterly performances. On average, students receive 10 hours of tailored instruction at about $27 an hour.  Initial enrollment will be capped at 100 students, but the academy is structured to teach about 300-350 students at full enrollment.
Ten instructors will create musical curriculums over a three-month period. At the end of three months, the students will perform concerts at selected locations along the coast.  

Rock U 2 was founded by Tim and Barbara Alamsha, residents of Ocean Springs, Mississippi.  Tim and Barbara both have extensive backgrounds in entertainment and the arts.  Tim has managed entertainment for the Walt Disney Company and has served as Director of Entertainment for Universal Studios and Station Casinos.  He was a member of the management team for the Disney Development Company and worked on developing The Disney Institute, Universal CityWalk, and Station Casinos Kansas City.  Tim also worked with Gladys Knight developing the curriculum for the Gladys Knight Talent Camp for Kids.
