No better than Assange, has NY Times openly admitted violating Espionage Act?

US Govt "condemns" Assange, stating documents still classified, calls NY Times decision to publish merely "unfortunate?" How about a violation of the Espionage Act of 1917, which is what it is? Bill Keller and Assange deserve adjoining GITMO cells.

April 27, 2011 - PRLog -- US Govt "condemns" Assange, stating documents still classified, calls NY Times decision to publish merely "unfortunate?" How about a violation of the Espionage Act of 1917, which is what it is? Bill Keller and Assange deserve adjoining GITMO cells.

In a NY Times story from April 24, 2011, headlined "A Statement by the United States Government, Geoff Morrell, Pentagon Press Secretary is quoted as saying:

"It is unfortunate that The New York Times and other news organizations have made the decision to publish numerous documents obtained illegally by Wikileaks concerning the Guantanamo detention facility. These documents contain classified information about current and former GTMO detainees, and we strongly condemn the leaking of this sensitive information.
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/04/25/world/guantanamo-files-us-government-statement.html

Then, from UPI today, April 27, 2011 at 7:44 AM, headline: Justice: Leaked documents still classified "Lawyers for inmates at the U.S. military prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, can't access leaked documents because they're classified, the Justice Department said."
The UPI story even states: "Despite being made public by WikiLeaks this week, the department's Court Security Office said the assessments of more than 700 detainees who walked through the gates at Guantanamo Bay remain legally classified and must be treated as such, The New York Times reported."

Hello? Someone poke this? It smells awful.

The NY Times also has published some of these documents, of course, which no one seems to give a rat's tailpipe about, except perhaps raising this reporter's eyebrows to the absurd hypocrisy of the situation. To my mind, the fact that these documents are still deemed classified makes the Times former buddy buddy relationship with Assange and publication of the same classified documents an obvious breach of the Espionage Act of 1917, no?

Also, why is Assange "condemned" and the Times just give a 'durn it, guys, whydja have ta go ahead and do that now?'

So, for the record, I am using this space here to officially notify NY State Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman that he might want to look into sending a few armed uniforms over to The New York Times Building, 620 Eighth Avenue, NY,  New York and round up one Bill Keller, as well as any number of persons who have reported on the story with blatant disregard or the damage they may have done to their own country at war. And if it's not his job to do so? How about the NSA or the State Department or President Obama, or anyone who might give a damn who has some authority to do anything, why not arrest these dirtbags and put them next to Bradley Manning? Or better, put the NY Times crew in GITMO and withold their favorite flavor of ice cream until they cough up where to find Saint Assange?

Fat chance. Instead?  ".. we strongly condemn the leaking of this sensitive information.."

Uh, oh. "Condemn." That's political buzzspeak for "Yeah, they're guilty as hell but we can't do anything about it until we're sure it won't cost us at the polls in 2012."
Wake up, anyone with blood on their hands. it already has.
And if I sound like I'm over the top with this?
".. the broad language of the (Espionage) Act could make news organizations and anyone who reported, printed, or disseminated information from Wikileaks subject to prosecution as well."

You know something? Maybe it was supposed to.

And to that? Amen.
