Live Oak Bank extends financial support to a local shelter in need

April 25, 2011- Atlanta, GA - Sarita Vora, an employee of Live Oak Bank in Atlanta, was listening to the local morning news on Monday, April 4th when she heard about a powerful storm that swept through the small town of Elijay, GA, demolishing the Build an Arc Animal Rescue. “When I heard Susan’s pleas for help, I knew we had to do something,” said Sarita. Strong winds, assumed to be tornadoes, whipped through Susan Littlejohn’s animal shelter, leveling the building. At the time, Susan, two other workers and 64 animals were inside. Miraculously, everyone survived.

“At Live Oak Bank, we are all animal lovers. Our four-legged friends even accompany us to the office. When Sarita came to me with this story, there was no question that we wanted to make a contribution to help Build an Arc,” commented Chip Mahan, the CEO of Live Oak Bank. “We wish Susan the best of luck in rebuilding the shelter and appreciate what she is doing for the animals in Elijay.”

When Susan was contacted regarding the donation, she was grateful for the money to help make immediate repairs to the shelter. “I have been amazed by all of the support from the local community and others who have heard of our unfortunate situation,” said Susan. “I hope the new facility will be better than ever.”
