March has been designated Rosacea Awareness Month by the National Rosacea Society to increase public awareness of rosacea and to spotlight the warning signs of this widespread but little-known condition. An estimated 16 million Americans suffer from this widespread but poorly understood disorder. In a National Rosacea Society survey, nearly 70 percent of rosacea sufferers said this condition had lowered their self-esteem, with many reporting embarrassment, anxiety and even depression.
"Our partner, SkinMedica, Inc., www.skinmedica.com recently introduced Redness Relief CalmPlex™, a non-prescription product clinically proven to reduce visible redness, said Dr. Wanda Kirejczyk, Vein Centers of Connecticut. "National Rosacea Awareness Month is the perfect time for us to do this for our aesthetics customers".
About Rosacea Awareness Month
Since 1992, the National Rosacea Society has made a difference in the way rosacea patients are treated and the way this widespread disorder is perceived and understood. The NRS mission is to raise awareness of rosacea, to provide public health information on the disorder, and to encourage and support medical research that may lead to improvements in its management, prevention and potential cure. As part of Rosacea Awareness Month, the National Rosacea Society is issuing public service announcements and press materials with information on this widespread disorder. Rosacea sufferers or those who suspect they may have the condition can e-mail email@example.com or call 1-888-NO-BLUSH to receive free educational materials. http://www.rosacea.org/
