April 26, 2011 - PRLog -- After conducting a nationwide executive search led by healthcare leadership solutions firm B. E. Smith, North Canyon Medical Center in Gooding, Idaho, has hired David Butler to fill the role of CEO. A seasoned healthcare executive with nearly 25 years of executive leadership experience, Butler will assume his new duties at North Canyon on May 3, 2011.
“David brings a strong background in leading the expansion and growth of services at not-for-profit healthcare organizations like ours,” said Devan Johnson, Director of Regional Services for St. Luke’s Health System in Boise, Idaho, the management partner with North Canyon. “We’re confident in his ability to work with physicians while serving as a role model for a culture embracing innovation, quality and accountability.”
Prior to joining North Canyon Medical Center, Butler served as president and CEO at Jellico Community Hospital in Jellico, Tenn., a not-for-profit, 54-bed, acute care facility under the direction of Adventist Health System, the largest not-for-profit Protestant healthcare provider in the nation. His career has included executive leadership positions at Paradise Valley Hospital in National City, Calif., also part of the Adventist Health System network of hospitals; Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas, a Columbia/HCA facility; and several hospitals within the Methodist Health Systems network. Butler completed a master of business administration degree at Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, Tenn.; a bachelor’s degree in long-term healthcare administration from Southern College of Seventh Day Adventist in Collegedale, Tenn.; and an associate’s degree in nursing at Southern Missionary College in Collegedale, Tenn.
North Canyon Medical Center is a new facility that meets several critical areas of need for the area it serves, including a dedicated surgery center with two advanced operating rooms providing orthopedic, ENT, podiatric, urological, gynecologic, and general surgery to residents of Gooding County and surrounding communities.
“North Canyon needed a seasoned healthcare executive who will develop a close working relationship with the Board to develop strategies for continuing quality care for the communities it serves,” according to Mark Madden, vice president of executive search for B. E. Smith, the leadership solutions firm who conducted the nationwide CEO search for North Canyon Medical Center. “David is a visionary leader who will continue to improve the facility’s financial performance while complementing system growth.”
