April 26, 2011 - PRLog -- Los Angeles, CA - BFM Digital, a leading digital music distributor of independent music, announces the release of two benefit albums “Thundril” and “Dhodma” in support of The Tibet Fund. This project, conceived by producers Joshua Jacobs, president, Synaptic Fusion Entertainment and Steven Weber, president, BFM Digital and Rinchen Dharlo, president, The Tibet Fund is intended to act as an instrument of awareness toward the current plight of the Tibetan people. Both albums follow on the heals of the success of “Jamste – Love & Compassion” – the first album created by the group to raise funds for The Tibet Fund.

“Thundril” is digital collection of contemporary songs and music from award-winning Tibetan artists in exile. “Thundril” (which means ‘Unity’ in Tibetan) offers a striking blend of voices of renowned Tibetan singers such as Dadon, Jamyang Yeshi, Karma Lama (Culture Brothers), Tenzin Kunsal, Pasang Dolma, Phurbu T. Namgyal, Tibet2Timbuktu, Techung, Tenzin Ngawang, Tsering Kalden, Sogshod Dhargye, Tenzin Woeser Tendor, Tenzin Choegyal, Tenzing Dolma, Melong - Tenzin Ngawang, Jampa Choephell, Tenzing Jigme, George Dorjee, Michel Tyabji, Medicine Bear and Kalsang Chukie Tethong among others, all donated tracks to this worthy cause. Each track was hand picked by Jacobs to focus on healing through sound vibration and mantra. The musical genres include pop, love, devotional, classical, freedom, and traditional folk songs.

“It was an honor to have the opportunity to select and compile these diverse songs offered to the Tibet Fund by various Contemporary Tibetan musicians sharing their tradition and spirit with the western world for this noble cause,” says Joshua Jacobs.

The second digital collection “Dhodma” (which means ‘Origin’ in Tibetan”) is a compilation of 14 traditional songs from various areas of Tibet, also performed by artists from the renowned Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts.

Formed in 1959 by His Holiness the Dalai Lama after the Chinese occupation of Tibet forced some 80,000 Tibetans to flee to India and systematically violated every aspect of Tibetan culture and civilization -- The Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA) is the premiere exile Institute entrusted with the responsibility of preserving and promoting Tibet's unique traditions of performing arts.

Based in Dharamasala, India, TIPA is a vibrant and creative institute consisting of 150 members including artists, instructors, trainees, administrative staff and craftsmen, all of whom live on the Institute's premises and are fully dedicated to preserving Tibetan traditional performing arts.
