Vancouver, BC – Fans of Marvel Comics don’t need to wait for the May 6th opening of the movie “Thor” to get their action hero thrill on – Vancouver’s original Thor The Rock Warrior announces the release of his new film and soundtrack “Thor – The Rock Opera” and launch of his 2011 World Tour.

From champion bodybuilder (holding over 40 titles worldwide, including Mr. Canada and Mr. USA) to actor, glam rocker and vintage sports apparel retailer, Jon Mikl Thor is one of Vancouver’s most successful entertainers whose career spans over 30 years.

Since 1973 fans have flocked to Thor’s legendary concert performances which blend characters and stories from Norse mythology with stunning feats of strength and endurance:  epic battles with wizards and demons; bending metal bars in his teeth; breaking bricks with a pneumatic drill on his chest; flying motorcycles, thunderbolts loincloths and swords complete his theatrical power rock experience.

“The stories convey the message that if you believe in yourself you can find the strength and the perseverance to overcome any obstacle,” says Thor.

Over the course of his lengthy career Thor has faced his share of obstacles. Among countless stories, two in particular stand out: lifting a 400lb fan with his neck and having the stage collapse under both of them, and fending off a group of muggers while leaving a TV interview in New York. Dressed in his Rock Warrior costume, he neutralized the attackers and simultaneously defended his dinner – a bucket of takeout chicken.

The Rock Warrior retains a loyal fan base that has grown as a new generation of Thor enthusiasts discover his music and movies. He has appeared in film and on stage alongside an impressive list of some of the film and music industry’s most famous icons: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Lou Ferrigno, Metallica, Motorhead, D.O.A., John Candy, Donald Sutherland, Adam West, and Liberace to name a few.
