On April 5th, more than 250 associates from the JW Marriott Cairo, Cairo Marriott Hotel, Hurghada, Sharm El Sheikh and Taba Marriott Beach Resorts gathered at the foot of the Pyramids of Giza to clean up the area and make an appeal to tourists to come back. On the same day 50 of the Renaissance Sharm El Sheikh Hotel associates took the same clean up initiative in the vicinity of their hotel, also calling tourists to revisit Egypt now and take part in Egypt’s new beginning .
Representing all the general managers of Marriott Hotels in Egypt, the group at the Pyramids was headed by Richard Zeolla, General Manager of the Cairo Marriott Hotel. Started at Cheops, the largest Pyramid, were Marriott Egypt associates were greeted and welcomed by members of the Antiquities Authorities.
Armed with brooms, shovels and garbage bins, the participants thoroughly cleaned the main land around the pyramids. While working, they where cheered for and encouraged by both tourists , souvenir sellers, as well as camels and horses owners, on the scene.
After several hours of hard work, team effort and good spirit , the day ended in ultimate success. Each associate was particularly proud of his contribution and Marriott Egypt was able to put its mark on this glorious sight, making a difference for a cleaner and healthier Egypt.
