April 26, 2011 - PRLog -- ATLANTA, GA April 26, 2011 – The KENO (Kid Entrepreneurs Need Opportunities) Micro-Fund will celebrate the First Annual Spring Youth Entrepreneurship Week on May 14th – May 21st.  The KENO Micro-Fund is a Georgia based non-profit that fosters, grows and nurtures businesses formed by young entrepreneurs.

The purpose of Youth Entrepreneurship Week is to
1. Build awareness about the importance of entrepreneurship among young people
2. Reach 1000 youth across the U.S. with a message of the power of entrepreneurship
3. Engage communities to join our movement by sponsoring their own events to support and promote entrepreneurship

Civic organizations, churches and schools are encouraged to join the movement and host events in their community.  To learn how your organization can host a Youth Entrepreneurship Week event, contact Deana Bass at 202-409-3667 or email kenofund@gmail.com.

“While The KENO Micro-Fund will have several events scheduled throughout the week, Youth Entrepreneurship Week will have a greater impact on the lives of participants when local organizations join the movement by planning events in their community,” said Adrienne Lance Lucas President and Co-Founder of The KENO Micro-Fund, “We’ve developed a resource kit to make it easy for organization leaders to be introduced to entrepreneurial concepts and even for youth themselves to plan events.”

Participating organizations will receive official recognition on the The KENO Micro-Fund website and their student participants will receive an official certificate of participation signed by The KENO Micro-Fund Founders. The KENO Youth Entrepreneurship Week Resource Kit can be downloaded at http://www.kenofund.com/RESOURCEKIT.pdf

“We know that when kids are taught business and financial literacy principles their academics improve.  Studies show direct improvement in technology, math, written and oral presentation skills,” said Lance Lucas.  “According to a study by the Kauffman Foundation, the vast majority of entrepreneurs ranked their academic performance in high school well above that of their peers.”

“A successful business owner must also be a responsible citizen,” said 12-year old Keno Lucas II Co-Founder of The KENO Micro-Fund, “So we are including community service activities in Youth Entrepreneurship Week.  On Sunday, May 15th participants can join us for a highway clean up project.  The clean up location is State Route 41 Northside Drive between Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive and Castleberry near the Atlanta University Center.”

In addition to the community service highway clean up day, other events sponsored by The KENO Micro-Fund include:
Change the World for Good Business Challenge - http://www.kenofund.com/CHALLENGE.doc (Deadline Wednesday, May 18th)
A one-day business boot camp where young entrepreneurs will receive an intense crash course in starting and growing a successful business.  The boot camp will also include a panel discussion with national business leaders. (Saturday, May 21st)
