April 25, 2011 - PRLog -- (KINGSTON SPRINGS, TN)…The Harpeth Band of Blue Booster Club is very excited to announce that our very successful dog show fundraiser will once again be held at Pegram Park  on Saturday, May 21st.  If you did not attend last year, you missed a great experience. This is not Westminster!  We are here to have a fun, family event that is open to anyone who loves their dog.  This show is open to all canine pets – registered or not, pure breed or mutt and to anyone living in or outside the county.

We are looking for volunteers to assist with this event. If you love dogs and would like to support the band, your help planning for this event would be greatly appreciated. Please contact Shawn Rider, event chair at shawn.rider@hhsbandofblue.com.

The Harpeth Band of Blue Booster Club asks for your support of the Cheatham County Animal Shelter and the Cheatham County Animal Awareness Foundation by asking participants and spectators to consider donating good brand dog food when they come to the event. The donation is not required to participate. Dogs from our local shelter will be available for adoption.

Dog Show Details: To pre-register, download a registration form at www.hhsbandofblue/dogshow.htm, and e-mail your intent to enter along with the name of your dog and the category(s) to be entered to shawn.rider@hhsbandofblue.com. Payment can be made in the form of cash or check the day of the event. Pre-registration is preferred, but not required.  On the day of the event, registration for all categories will be from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.  The show will commence at 10:00 a.m.

There are over ten categories of competition. The cost to enter is $10 per pet per category. In the first category group, pets will be judged by size and points and awarded for traits such as: overall health, personality, good behavior, training as well as a wildcard Judge’s favorite.

2.   Small (23 to 44 lbs.)
3.   Medium (45 to 88 lbs.)
4.   Large (89 lbs. and over)

The second group to be judged will be unusual and fun categories such as: The Ugliest Dog that only a Momma can Love, Cutest Dog, Best Trick, Best Costume, Looks Most Like Its Owner, Best Mutt and more.  Only one dog will be awarded Best in Show (aka Best Blue Blood) and will take home a Grand Prize and special ribbon.

Prizes valued at $25 and up will be awarded for all categories along with 1st, 2nd and 3rd place ribbons as well as bragging rights throughout the year and photos in the South Cheatham Advocate. There are some great prizes so bring all your canine pets and feel free to enter your pet in multiple categories.

On the day of the event there are a few rules to ensure everyone has a respectful, fun and safe experience. Rules are simple.  Please keep your pet leashed and in your control throughout the entire event and please clean up after your pet, Pet clean up bags will be distributed during registration.

Bring your lawn chair and stay the day.  The Band of Blue Boosters and Dog show volunteers have planned numerous demonstrations that will occur throughout the competition.  There will be merchandise for dog grooming and care items for purchase, a dog grooming station, a cooling tent, dog treats for each and every dog entered in the competition and a dog show silent auction.  Also, the Band of Blue will be selling hot dogs, chips and cokes throughout the day.
