UK consumers indicate the best part of the Royal Wedding is the extra day off work

According to the results of a new PriceGrabber.co.uk survey, most UK consumers are planning to watch coverage of the Royal Wedding as it airs but the ceremony is not the only thing that has them excited about the Royal Wedding.

April 26, 2011 - PRLog -- There’s less than a week until the Royal Wedding and the world is buzzing with anticipation.  According to the results of a PriceGrabber.co.uk survey (825 U.K. respondents; April 1 to April 18th), most UK consumers are planning to watch the coverage of the Royal Wedding as it airs but the ceremony is not the only thing that has them excited about the Royal Wedding.


PriceGrabber.co.uk survey data highlights include:

   Day off work and a sense of community are the best things about the Royal Wedding
When survey respondents were asked what the best thing about the forthcoming Royal Wedding 45 percent indicated having an extra day off work, 39 percent said replicating a sense of community spirit last seen at Charles and Diana’s wedding, and 12 percent said the wedding ceremony.

   Consumers most interested to see the ceremony and wedding dress
When respondents who are planning to watch the Royal Wedding were asked what they are most interested to see when watching, 39 percent said the ceremony. Twenty-eight percent said the wedding dress, 20 percent said the invited guests and celebrities, and 20 percent said the patriotic crowds.

   Historical significance is top reason to watch the Royal Wedding , whist nearly a quarter are interested in the ‘fairy tale wedding story’.
Of the respondents that plan to watch the Royal Wedding, 40 percent of indicate that they plan to watch the wedding because of its historical significance. Twenty-four percent will watch for the memory, 17 percent are interested in the fairy tale wedding story, and 9 percent due to the media hype.


   Most UK respondents are interested in the Royal Wedding
Survey results revealed that 47 percent of respondents indicated they are moderately interested to very interested in the upcoming Royal Wedding. Only 20 percent are neutral and 23 percent are disinterested.


   Almost half of UK respondents plan to watch the live coverage
Of all respondents surveyed, 49 percent of survey respondents plan to watch LIVE coverage of the Royal Wedding on April 29.  Additionally, of the total respondents surveyed, 31 percent of consumers plan to watch coverage of the Royal Wedding AFTER it airs.


   Many consumers watched previous royal weddings on TV
Survey data revealed that 63 percent of respondents watched previous Royal Weddings on television. Of those previous wedding watchers, 94 percent watched Prince Charles and Lady Diana’s wedding, 44 percent watched Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s wedding, and 31 percent watched Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles wedding in
