April 26, 2011 - PRLog -- Kids Are Heroes is very excited and proud to announce the launching of its brand new Outreach Leaders program designed to help bolster the organization in pockets all over the country,  and continuing on throughout the world. Through social media they have gained many fans from many countries, and from this fan base individuals are signing up to take their passion for the organization one step further: that is to actively champion the cause in their own communities.

"We have cast a very thin net around the globe through our social media efforts", said Gabe O'Neill, President of Kids Are Heroes. "But we realize that social media is not enough. To grow the organization to the level we envision, we will need key people around the globe to start their own groups to help spread the word. This is going to be a long term effort."

Having just put the word out about the program late last week O'Neill was overwhelmed by the response. "I thought I'd have plenty of time to fill in the cracks and flush out the requirements for the program.  Before I knew it I had people signing up. That amazed me because we ask for at least 2-3 hours per week which is not a trivial commitment."

So far three people have offered their time and skills to this effort. Dawn Ranieri is from Philadelphia, PA. She leads the team called "KAH Philly". Dawn is a recent discoverer of Kids Are Heroes but has been seeking something like this for her own children. According to Dawn, "Our children of today are the future of tomorrow."

Mariah McMillian is from Mobile, Alabama, and will be handling the outreach in that community. She has been watching Kids Are Heroes develop from its inception. "I believe that if we give our kids encouragement, our open ears, and our open hearts, they can make enormous impacts on the big and small issues that affect every aspect of our world. I want to be one of the people who gives our kids the voice they need to make a difference in their own unique way", said Mariah.

Jaxi West has been a Kids Are Heroes Ambassador for several months now. She saw this as a natural progression where she could have further impact. She writes, "As an Outreach Program Leader for the D.C./VA area, I look forward to interacting with local communities and institutions to help spread the word about Kids Are Heroes, institute programs and campaigns to increase involvement and encourage all youths to be a part of this incredible experience of giving back. I will help them expand their own personal network as they join the massive, global network that Kids Are Heroes is building daily. The life skills children gain from being a part of Kids Are Heroes is a priceless education you can't get in school and something they will benefit from throughout their entire lives."

All three volunteers have their Facebook and Twitter pages set up and are off and running.  O'Neill said, "I really think this has come at a perfect time. Without the inroads we have made through social media this idea may not have seen the light of day. I am so excited to see what is going to happen next!"
