Dorchester Bay Economic Development Corporation, in collaboration with Quincy-Geneva CDC Project RIGHT, and other key stakeholders, is leading a broad community effort to promote comprehensive community revitalization in the Grove Hall neighborhood of Boston. In total, this effort will bring more than $70 million of investment in affordable housing, permanent job creation, job training and youth arts programming in the next 2-3 years.

Grove Hall, which encompasses parts of Dorchester and Roxbury, has some of the highest poverty rates in Boston, including well over 40% unemployment. DBEDC’s Quincy Corridor focus area is located along a key east-west connector between Blue Hill Ave and Columbia Rd, @ 3/4 mile from the new Four Corners commuter rail station along the Fairmount rail line.

The Quincy Corridor effort is part of the nationally-recognized Fairmount/Indigo Commuter Rail Initiative that is bringing more than $165 million of improvements to all 5 existing rail stations, creation of 4 new stations, and important transit equity initiatives to the Dorchester, Mattapan, and Hyde Park communities of Boston.

Quincy Corridor By the Numbers:

- Revitalization of 4+ acres of vacant or blighted land;

- Redevelopment of 129 affordable homes for families;

- Development of a world-class job-training and youth arts facility, providing a state-of-the art environment in which to train and place more than 50 people annually, combined with after-school programming to re-engage 100+ (rising to 300+) young people through arts programs;

- Redevelopment of an add’l 35k SF of commercial space, leading to creation of 30-40 new permanent jobs;

- @ $70 million of new investment.
