SCRANTON RESIDENT TO WALK FROM PA TO NC TO CREATE AWARENESS ABOUT BULLYING Walk Is The Brainchild Of Win-Win Resolutions And Scranton Resident George Ewing

Scranton, PA – (APRIL 12, 2011) – Win-Win Resolutions is teaming up with Scranton resident, George Ewing, as he completes the first annual No More Bullies Walk from Scranton, PA to Greensboro, NC. This 600 mile journey is an effort to bring attention to the sometimes fatal actions a bully can set in motion by teasing and harassment. Ewing’s trek will take him through urban centers in PA, MD, VA and NC from May 1 – 31.

Ewing will specifically be walking for Pennsylvania teenager, Brandon Bitner, who recently committed suicide, now termed ‘bullycide’, due to bullying at his school. Ewing chose Scranton as his starting point because in the last six months, five children/teenagers have taken their own life because of bullying in the surrounding area. “As a teenager I was bullied and actually dropped out of school because it was so bad,” said George Ewing. “I was one of the lucky ones who made it through, but children and teenagers like Brandon illustrate that bullying is a very real thing with dire consequences. This walk is for all of the Brandon’s of the world and I truly hope that this demonstration encourages parents, teachers, students, friends and families to talk with each other about bullying and ways to stop it.”

“We are thrilled that George is literally taking a step in the right direction to combat bullying and its sometimes deadly results,” says Debra Vigliano, Executive Director, Win-Win Resolutions. “This walk will allow us to spread our message of effective conflict resolutions and bring attention to something that’s plaguing our schools, playgrounds, online and anywhere where children and teenagers socialize.” George Ewing recently left his six figure job in corporate America because his former employer, upon finding out he was making this walk against bullying, gave him the ultimatum of ‘you walk, you’re fired.’ His stops during May include:

PENNSYLVANIA – Scranton, May 1; Wilkes Barre, May 2; Hazelton, May 3; Harrisburg, May 6

MARYLAND / WASHINGTON D.C. – Baltimore, May 11; D.C., May 12-13

VIRGINIA – Richmond, May 19

NORTH CAROLINA – Raleigh, May 26-27; Burlington, May 30; Greensboro, May 31

An opening ceremony and rally is planned in Scranton, PA on May 1from 3-5 pm at Courthouse Square  and a closing in Greensboro, NC on May 31.

Details about these events can be found by visiting www.winwinresolutions.org. Walk sponsors as of April 11 include: Chews4Health, Gold Toe, KIA, Merrell, Nationwide Car Sales, Omega Sports and Verizon.
