12th Annual Newport Beach Film Festival To Showcase Exclusive Screenings Of Asian Cinema

Festival Will Spotlight Three Asian Films From Korea, China and Japan Followed by a Gala Celebration of Asian Film, Food, and Culture

 
PRLog - Apr. 24, 2011 - NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. -- Newport Beach, Calif. – On Monday, May 2nd, 2011 the 12th annual Newport Beach Film Festival will present its Asian Showcase, an evening celebration of Asian cinema and culture. The event will feature premiere screenings of acclaimed Asian films, followed by a festive post screening gala. Representing Korea, China and Japan, the Asian Showcase will give filmgoers an opportunity to experience Asian film and culture at its finest. The Asian Showcase will feature the regional premieres of “Harmony” as the Korean Spotlight, “Go Lala Go” as the Chinese Spotlight, and “Redline” as the Japanese Spotlight.
 “Harmony” is a crowd-pleasing tale that is sure to play on the heartstrings as we follow one woman’s journey to create a prison choir. “Go Lala Go”, based on the best-selling novel, was a box office mega-hit in China and stars Xu Jinglei, as a modern business woman faced with the challenge of love or career.  A Japanese anime sensation, “Redline” is an ultra cool ride on an extreme global auto race.  This animated festival favorite is a true visual spectacle.
   The films will screen on Monday May 2nd, 2011 at the Edwards Big Newport 6, 300 Newport Center Drive, Newport Beach, CA 92660. Attendees can choose one of the three Showcase films and participate in the after gala event.

7:00 p.m. – “Harmony” (2010, Korea, 114 min)
7:15 p.m.  – “Go Lala Go!” (2010, China, 111 min)
7:30 p.m. – “Redline” (2010, Japan, 101 min)

   The post-screening celebration will take place at the Koi Pond Courtyard in the center of Fashion Island. The event will included select tastings from top Orange County restaurants, traditional entertainment as well as multiple DJs.
