April 23, 2011 - PRLog -- Vail Dermatology owner and board certified dermatologist, Karen Nern, M.D., continued her education by visiting the Avène Hydrotherapy Center and the Carita House of Beauty in France last month. Located in the Languedoc Roussillon region, the Avène Hydrotherapy Center is a worldwide leader in hydrotherapy, also known as water therapy treatments. Nern toured the facility, participated in treatments, and gained insight to the various uses for hydrotherapy.

“I am interested in learning about treatments that calm and cure the skin ailments that I see often at my clinic,” stated Dr. Nern. The Avène Hydrotherapy Center is a prescription treatment center where medical doctors send patients for thermal spring water “cure” treatments. “Expanding my education can help patients find the right products and treatments for them,” she said.

“Avène thermal water is a naturally soft, sterile water that is used in all Avène products. It has anti-inflammatory properties that are useful for sensitive skin,” she said.  As a result of her experience, Dr. Nern will be introducing several new products to the clinic. “The most exciting one is the SOS kit for sunburn relief and to speed post-procedure recovery times,” she noted.

While in France, Dr. Nern also visited the Carita House of Beauty. She was welcomed with a Carita signature facial from an esthetician who had been with the company for over 40 years. “I was able to experience their proprietary sunflower seed exfoliation, which left my skin radiant, soft, and hydrated,” stated Dr. Nern, “Carita products are the epitome of French pampering; the ingredients promote radiant skin.” Vail Dermatology has offered the “Carita facial” and Carita products in their clinic since August 2010.
