Contra Costa Legal Community Rallies To Raise Funds For The Food Bank

April 20, 2011 - PRLog -- MARTINEZ, CALIFORNIA, April 20, 2011 — For two weeks, the Contra Costa County Bar Association (CCCBA) and its member law firms will participate in a competitive food and money drive to benefit the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano. This marks the 20th annual Food from the Bar drive. Since its inception, the drive has collected $835,000 and 54 tons of food for hungry Contra Costa County residents. This year, the legal community hopes to raise over $100,000 and 10,000 pounds of food.

Food from the Bar is a competitive drive that leads to many creative fundraising efforts on the part of participating law firms. In the past, attorneys have auctioned or raffled goods and services, participated in walk-a-thons and some have even held head-shaving and cream-puff eating contests. To foster competition among participating law firms, the CCCBA declares winners in five categories based on the highest per capita contribution. 2010 winners included Archer Norris; Morgan Miller Blair; Bramson, Plutznik, Mahler & Birkhauser; the Law Offices of Suzanne Boucher and Lyon & Quintero.
