April 19, 2011 - PRLog -- The Seventh Annual West Chester Film Festival is bringing a weekend of short films from around the world to downtown West Chester, PA. The film festival starts Friday, April 29 and runs through Sunday, May 1. Now in it’s seventh year, the festival continues to grow and will be screening several award-winning films, including the Academy Award Winning Short, “God of Love.”

Carol Jean Quigley, who has been with the festival since it began, reflects the energy and excitement that flows during the festival weekend. "Our festival gives visiting film makers a warm and appreciative audience" says Quigley. “With no movie theater in downtown West Chester, the West Chester Film Festival is an opportunity to see unique and wonderful independent short films that would not otherwise come to this area.”

In addition to “God of Love,” directed by Luke Matheny, films being screened include the Oscar nominated “The Confession,” from UK director Tanel Toom and Oscar short-listed animated films “The Silence Beneath the Bark,” directed by Joanna Lurie and “Urs,” directed by Moritz Mayerhofer. The festival lineup also includes several shorts shown for the first time in North America as well as films of note from Pennsylvania filmmakers, such as the comedy “Iowa Is Closed Today,” directed by Ryan Quinn from Pittsburgh and “Coming off the DL,” by Villanova documentarian Dan Hunt.

The West Chester Film Festival also offers free workshops on animation, scriptwriting and film making that are open to the public.

Quigley says, "The mission of the West Chester Film Festival is to entertain, enlighten and educate. And if you love film, the Festival is one of the best entertainment values in the region!"
