Movie Vault was initially launched on the iPhone and iPad in the fall of 2010 and was selected by apple as a featured New & Noteworthy application and also named an App Store Essential under Apps for Movie Lovers. This was then followed with a release at CES 2011 on the Roku where Movie Vault is has remained the Top Paid Channel for the last 20 weeks.
"We felt that the next logical step was to make the leap to Android and Windows Phone 7, but we wanted to take the time and do it right," says Jeremy Krall, Fling Soft co-founder. "Most feature length video library applications require ongoing subscriptions. We wanted to remove that barrier and let our customers have access to a wide variety of content once they purchased the application."
Movie Vault delivers a classic film viewing experience with a variety of movies featuring some of the best actors, actresses, and directors over the last hundred years. The application also features a simple to use, intuitive interface, and provides access for genre based navigation as well as free-form searches. Every title has complete movie information including reviews and an integrated link directly to IMDB for additional information. One of the other important features within Movie Vault is the ability to update the content dynamically without forcing another version release.
"From the very beginning, we wanted to design interfaces that were specific to the devices so they didn’t feel like a port from the iPhone," says Mike Dewey, Fling Soft co-founder. "We spent time looking at other successful interfaces and our goal was to keep it simple while maintaining a consistent aesthetic across devices. I think we came up with designers that are very easy to use and we are very pleased with the result."
Movie Vault for Android requires OS 1.5 or higher and is available now for $1.99 on the Android Market. It will also soon be available on the Amazon Appstore, Motorola’s SHOP4APPS, and on Verizon VCAST. Movie Vault for Windows Phone 7 is available on the Zune Marketplace for $1.99.
