Follow on Google News | Local Musicians Raising Money for Autistic BoyWest Bloomfield, MI – April 1, 2011: A night of music has been planned to help raise money and Autism awareness.
By: Dana Fortier This benefit will be held at the Magnetic Recording Studio in Pontiac, Michigan on Saturday, April 30, 2011. Doors open at 8 p.m. and musicians take the stage at 9 p.m. The event will be family-friendly until 11 p.m., but music will continue until 2 a.m. Tickets can be purchased in advance by visiting the Event page at http://4porterbenefit.eventbrite.com. “April is Autism Awareness Month, and we don’t think there’s a better way to raise money and awareness for this than by playing this music, “ said Steve Szajna, one of the event’s organizers. “We hope that by doing this we’ll help Porter and his mom out with some fundraising and keep Brando’s memory and love of music alive.” “By coming together to play and remember Brando and celebrate his legacy, this fund will help not only Porter, but hopefully other area children afflicted with Autism,” Mr. Szajna went on to add. The legacy a musician leaves behind is often measured in fond memories and treasured melodies rather than financial assets. Going forward, the Trust intends to promote and direct profits from Brando’s music catalog towards Porter’s continued health, growth and well-being. We hope you will help to support our effort.
