Volt Workforce Solutions and VCEDA Offer Training Course in Ventura County

PRLog (Press Release) - Apr. 19, 2011 - VENTURA COUNTY, CALIF.--Volt Workforce Solutions and the Ventura County Economic Development Association (VCEDA) are teaming up to offer a 10-hour OSHA Essentials Training Course, Wednesday and Thursday, June 29 and 30, at the Ventura County Office of Education (5100 Adolfo Rd., Camarillo). This marks the first time Volt has made the program available in Ventura County.

   The course, which introduces critical OSHA policies and procedures as well as general industry safety and health principles, is conducted by Volt's OSHA trainers. "This course promotes overall workplace safety awareness and is geared for supervisors with safety and health responsibilities," says Ellen Brown, Volt's Ventura County area manager. "Volt typically conducts OSHA training in Orange County. Training here makes it much more convenient and accessible not only for local workers but for job seekers looking to enhance their skills."  

   Topics for the course include inspections, citations, penalties, walking and working surfaces, fire and egress, electrical, personal protective equipment, machine guarding, hazard communication, accident investigation, material handling, confined spaces, blood borne pathogens and ergonomics. Attendees receive an OSHA course completion card and a copy of J.J. Keller's OSHA Safety Handbook.

   The OSHA Essentials Training Course is free to Volt clients and VCEDA members. For all others, the cost is $225 and includes a six-month VCEDA membership. "The membership gives non-VCEDA members an opportunity to take advantage of VCEDA resources," says Bill Buratto, VCEDA President and CEO. "VCEDA has been the business voice of Ventura County since 1949 and gives members an opportunity to interact with Ventura County’s civic, corporate, small business and government leaders."
