For lunch, Big D’s Grub Truck serves up Asian-style tacos and grinders. The tacos are held together with two warm tortillas and the grinders are served as overstuffed banh-mi style sandwiches that are hot pressed on the grill. They both come with your choice of 1) beef topped with spicy kimchi puree and zesty scallion relish, 2) spicy pork topped with zesty scallion relish, 3) spicy chicken topped with cilantro; and 4) ginger chicken topped with daikon salad and cilantro. Also unique to Big D’s menu are optional sides that include Crispy Fries seasoned with your choice of Old Bay or Sazon, Yuca Fries, and Pork and Chive Pan-Fried Dumplings. All are served with an array of specially-blended home made sauces.
Big D’s Grub Truck is the brainchild of its sole owner, Dennis Kum, a native New Yorker who was born and raised in Jackson Heights. While growing up in the culinary mecca of Queens, his style of cooking was shaped and influenced by the Latin and Asian community that he is still fondly a part of. It is his hope to introduce monthly specials with Asian-fusion flavors to keep lunch interesting for New Yorkers.
So, be sure to keep an eye out for the Big Yellow Truck Monday through Friday at various locations in New York.
