April 18, 2011 - PRLog -- Tech conference Mobile Connections (http://mobileconnectionsevent.com/) is diving straight into the debate on which mobile OS will reign supreme with an all-star panel discussion, “Which Platforms Do You Bet On?” The session takes place on Monday April 18, 4:15-5:15 pm PDT at the Bellagio

The panel is designed to help mobile developers navigate industry developments and understand what the future may hold in both enterprise and consumer markets. Moderated by mobile analyst Paul Thurrott, the panel includes industry luminaries Jay Freeman (Cydia), Robert Scoble, Aaron Hillegass (Big Nerd Ranch), Tyler Lessard (RIM), and Romi Mahajan (Microsoft).

This hotly contested topic takes on new meaning with Nokia’s decision to shift from its Symbian OS to the Microsoft platform. "The future of computing is both mobile and highly connected," Thurrott said. "The question before us is which platforms will be at the forefront of this revolution. There's a natural consolidation that will occur that will take out some of the fringe players."

According to a recent article in The Wall Street Journal (www.on.wsj.com/fXp4Rm), the marketplace is experiencing a shortage of mobile developers, as large companies and start-ups scramble to capitalize on the rapid growth of smartphones. Listings search engine, Indeed Inc., noted the number of online job listings with the keyword ‘iPhone’ has tripled over the past year, while jobs with ‘Android’ more than quadrupled.

As a cross-platform event, Mobile Connections is uniquely suited to address which platform(s) has staying power in the enterprise and consumer space. The event, which targets both developers and business executives, offers insight on developing and marketing apps on iOS/iPhone, Android, Windows Phone 7, and BlackBerry.

Mobile Connections is a five-day event held at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, April 17-21, and features three collocated conferences: Mobile Connections, Cloud Connections, and Virtualization Connections.
