CPSC/Sandia Wire Testing Flaws+Conflicting Partial Report Findings+Unknown FACTS=Confusion and CHAOS

CPSC existing reversal, concerning CPSC published Life Safety Guidelines, Fallon's MDL Court Guidelines, and endorsement of an obvious incomplete report, based on partial test findings and conclusions, has resulted in Consumer confusion and chaos ???

April 21, 2011 - PRLog -- Consumers, Homeowners, Lenders, Insurers, Buyers, and Sellers need to fully understand and comprehend the NAHB and CPSC commissioned Sandia Report that provided misleading, half true findings, and statements that require Scientific review and questioning before acceptance, including questioning the CPSC decision to reverse previously published LIFE SAFETY GUIDELINES, based on these incomplete Scientific findings.

Sandia Test Report findings, after detailed reviews, clearly FAILS to state ...

ALL electrical components and wiring, typically found in Residential Construction are SAFE and DO NOT POSE LIFE SAFETY ISSUES NOW OR IN THE FUTURE and can be safely left in structures undergoing abatement and treatment to correct Tainted Corrosive Chinese Drywall issues.

If this statement or a similar statement had been established - then and only then - the action of reversing Life Safety Guidelines, previously published and endorsed by the CPSC, would potentially be acceptable.

Sandia Report, clearly explains limited tests and testing conditions were performed on a select number of components, and further documents additional testing would be required to confirm, limited Test Report Findings would apply to these untested components.

Judge Fallon's MDL Courts, extensive expert testimony, opinions, and findings ...

Clearly determined MAJOR LIFE SAFETY risks exist - IF originally installed electrical wiring systems, components, appliances, fixtures, and circuits - exposed to out-gassing vapors from Tainted Corrosive Chinese Drywall are not replaced 100% during abatement and repairs.

My firm has not always agreed 100% with findings and guidelines published by Industry Experts, but finds one specific, peer reviewed, Technical Article by G.B. Freeman, J. Hubbard, R. DeMott, T. Gauthier, and M. Stevenson - published January 6th, 2011 - not only supports my opinions, findings, and statements, but clearly contradicts the Sandia Report, NAHB Guidelines, and CPSC current electrical wiring Life Safety Guidelines and statements.

My firm has highlighted several sections, statements, findings, and conclusions of the attached Technical Article, allowing you to review and determine the FACTS, based on documented testing.

Technical Article tested copper strips in lieu of copper wire, allowing for easy surface deterioration or degradation testing, and findings ... concluding ...

"These findings indicate that the simple removal of CDW will not result in the cessation of sulfur-driven corrosion for copper-based materials previously exposed to the reduced sulfur emissions of CDW. Corrosion continues because either the mobile sulfur acts as an "auto-catalyst" driving the corrosion process forward or the initial incorporation of the sulfur in the corrosion product prevents the formation of a passivising copper oxide/hydroxide surface film typically formed on copper alloys in the presence of moisture."

With this information available and clearly explaining the copper corrosion process continues from exposure to CDW or TCDW after removal of the CDW or TCDW, and not any 220 amp typical braided electrical wiring and components were tested, how can the CPSC even consider leaving in place, any copper electrical components or wiring systems, with a SAFE and NOT LIFE THREATENING label, opinion, statement, or determination ???

Clearly corrosion exists under insulation covering braided 220 amp wire, commonly installed for ovens, stoves, hot water heaters, HVAC units, and dryers contradicting CPSC/Sandia Test Findings and Conclusions.

CPSC review and immediate retraction of any guidance - that electrical wiring systems and components do not present  current or future Life Safety risk issues - should be corrected immediately, based on this Technical Article.

Congressional Committee Reviews concerning CPSC Testing processes, findings, statements, and conclusions leaving Consumers with serious potential Life Safety Risk, require immediate answers and action to correct and resolve. CPSC should protect Consumers against risk and potential Life Safety Issues, based on complete, validated, and confirmed Scientific Testing, per agencies standards and guidelines.

Your opinion, after review of attached documents, should be shared with ALL your Political Representatives.

Educated, Informed, and Empowered Consumers need to speak up and be heard.
