PRLog (Press Release) - Apr. 17, 2011 - It is clear that no one discipline or sector of society has enough knowledge and resources to prevent the emergence or resurgence of diseases in today's globalized world… Only by breaking down the barriers among agencies, individuals, specialties and sectors can we unleash the innovation and expertise needed to meet the many serious challenges to the health of people, domestic animals, and wildlife and to the integrity of ecosystems…We are in an era of "One World, One Health" and we must devise adaptive, forward-looking and multidisciplinary solutions to the challenges that undoubtedly lie ahead. -- 2004 : Manhattan Principles of the Wildlife Conservation Society. [1]

The Pathobiologics International Wildlife Rehabilitation and Information Node has been set up for operational support and policy development in cooperation with World Veterinary Association, World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, Global One Health Initiative/Commission and associated international reference centers.

Our first global education focus is the 192 country World Rabies Education Initiative [2] that will serve as a bridge into World Veterinary Day 2011 on April 30.  The goal is to raise awareness and encourage educators, public health professionals, physicians and veterinarians to play a role role in in rabies prevention and control.
