April 16, 2011 - PRLog -- BANDERA SANCTIONED AS PRELIMINARY TO
NATIONAL FINALS CHUCK WAGON RACES

Clinton Arkansas:  Organizers of the National Finals Chuck Wagon Races held in Clinton, Arkansas have announced races scheduled for May 14th and 15th in Bandera, Texas have been selected as preliminary qualifying races to the National Finals.  There is only one qualifying race selected in each state.  The races will be hosted by the Twin Elm Guest Ranch.  “We are just bustin with excitement!” was the comment from the Twin Elm General Manager, Capt. Kury. “In addition, the Bandera Chuck Wagon Races have been selected by ACwRA  as the official sanctioned Texas race.
The preliminary qualifying event will be held on Saturday and Sunday May 14th and 15th in Bandera, Cowboy Capital of the World. Over 40 teams have already scrambled to get a race slot at the event.  Each racing team consists of a cook, a driver and an outrider. Chuck Wagon racers compete in a series of one-on-one, high-speed battles, where a sharp turn can send a wagon tumbling.  Competitions include races for 46 and 52 inch mules, 46 and 52 inch ponies, big horses and big mules, classic and mini classics.  This event is not for the faint of heart.  Fast and furious, wild and crazy, Chuck Wagon Racing makes Nascar seem tame!
There are other events as well.  Bring your fastest horse and enter the Great Hill Country Ridin’ for the Brand Race; over the river and through the woods and the fastest horse wins! Other competitions include Horseback Tug of War and the Side- Saddle Skedaddle; which takes only contestants wearing dresses that must ride with both feet on one side of the saddle!  Other featured exhibitions and competition include drill teams and the Cowboy Capital Mounted Shooters.  The entire weekend is all about fun equestrian events.  The weekend of racing will include arts and crafts, great food, a rodeo Friday night and an evening chuck wagon dinner and show on Saturday.
Teams winning at the Bandera Chuck Wagon Races will receive points towards entering the competition at the National Finals.  On Labor Day, the small Ozark Mountain town of Clinton, Arkansas hosts the National Championship Chuck Wagon races, the world's largest wagon race. More than one-hundred, three-person teams compete in front of a crowd of about 20,000, who sit along the bluffs that rise above the rangeland track. To participate in the National Finals, a team must compete in sanctioned events held in Oklahoma, Louisiana, Missouri, Arkansas, and now Texas. Bring your rig, bring your tent, bring your horse, and bring your wife and kids.  You can camp all week out among the stars, rent a room at the ranch or hook up at our RV sites.  It’s a great way to hang out with horse minded people.  For more information about the Bandera Chuck Wagon Races go to www.twinelmranch.com or call 830-796-3628.
