DFW.HirePatriots.com, J D Maroney, Speaks at Local Metroplex Marines

April 15, 2011 - PRLog -- Carrollton, TX April 6,2011— J D Maroney of DFW.HirePatriots.com  - as a guest of the Semper Fidelis Leadership™ Institute founder Gene Blanton - was able to share his important mission and commitment to our Nation’s heroes at the monthly luncheon of the Metroplex Marines. J D’s goal is to provide temporary and permanent jobs to military men and women returning from their tours overseas.

During J D’s call to action, Lieutenant General Richard E. Carey, USMC (Ret) concurred that the statistics for unemployment among returning military and veterans are appalling. To put a number on it, 18-25yr old veterans stand at a 21% unemployment rate compared significantly higher to their civilian counterparts at 16.6% and to their own rate in of 14.4% in 2008. If you are also a female veteran, expect those rates to climb even higher.

HirePatriots.com is an organization that was inspired by a young marine returning from Iraq where he was wounded.  When he arrived at his home near Oceanside, Ca, it stood in darkness and his wife informed him that she had lost her job, car, and all the utilities had been cut off when she was unable to pay.  She did not want to tell him while he was recovering from his injuries in the military hospital.

Upon learning these conditions, the young marine started walking down the street, knocking on each door in his neighborhood inquiring about work he could perform to earn sufficient funds to reconnect his utilities.

One of the doors he knocked on was opened by a patriotic couple that understood his needs and responded quickly.

The young marine’s plight inspired this couple to explore the possibilities of helping others in the same dilemma.  Therefore this inspiration led to the founding of a national organization named HirePatriots.com. The heartbeat being the formation of a free job board for military men and women could find jobs at no cost to them. Also any civilian could post jobs at no cost.

Now seven years later, it has grown to a large number of states and has more than 25 regions including the Dallas / Ft Worth / Killeen region directed by Mr. Maroney. Hire Patriots continues to expand, with the goal of reaching every state and every base in the Nation. The unique job board, which is free to post jobs and free for military connected persons to apply and post their resumes, has been highly successful where established and hopes to see this same success across the states.
