By: Just Another Snake Cult "But to add a sense of urgency I've decided to make it available for only a limited time. I think one unfortunate side-effect of the digital revolution is that widespread free availability has lead to rampant devaluation music. This is why we are experiencing a resurgence in analog mediums. It's rooted in a nostalgia for a time when music meant something more. I think value comes temporality. It's that the real sunset disappears that makes the experience fuller than the photograph. And it's not just sunsets -- it's art, it's music, it's social interaction, it's life." Darker and more psychedelic than last fall's "The Dionysian Season," "Ghosts" is just as ecclectic a mix of lo-fi pop. Influences range from the Beach Boys to David Lynch, Dexys Midnight Runners to Joy Division. Þórir lived for many years in California, but in 2009 he left the sunny west coast and the bands he was playing in there (James Rabbit and Monsters From Mars) to set off on his own in the the colder northern climate of his birth, Iceland. Since the release of "The Dionysian Season" (debut full-length on Brak Records) just last fall, Just Another Snake Cult has done three tours in the U.S., played at the Iceland Airwaves festival, and been nominated "best newcomer" in the Icelandic Music Awards. Þórir continues to work incessantly on his music. New singles are slated to be released this summer, and another album within the year, to be supported by more US tours. When not working on music Þórir is involved in a number of community activism projects in Reykjavík. The EP can be purchased online here: http://justanothersnakecult.bandcamp.com/ End
