If you use agency workers, then this free MAS workshop is a MUST

Whether its staff absences, production peaks or seasonal variations, if you cover these gaps with agency personnel, you need to be aware of the Agency Worker Regulations (AWR) that are coming into force from 01 October 2011.

April 14, 2011 - PRLog -- Very broadly, the regulations entitle temporary staff, after an initial 12-week qualifying period, to the “same basic working and employment conditions” as full-time employees doing the same job.

Although sounding quite simple, this will mean not only planning ahead, but may require the introduction of new working practices on the part of manufacturers using temporary staff in order to accommodate these new rules.

The Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) NW is holding a free half-day seminar in the Village Hotel, Bury, on Tuesday 17th May to introduce and explain these new regulations to employers.

During the seminar, attendees will find out how the regulations affect both them as employers and the temporary staff they employ, how to meet these challenges head-on, how to work with an employment agency and the support that is available to manufacturers.

An expert from employment law specialists Eversheds will be leading this interactive workshop aimed especially at managing directors, business decision makers, HR and training managers in the region’s SME’s.

Manufacturers wishing to reserve a place on this free seminar should phone 0800 458 9585, or alternatively, they can book directly online at www.mas-nw.co.uk/events
