April 14, 2011 - PRLog -- Launch of Cannes Creative Effectiveness Lions
This new award category will honour creativity which has shown a measurable and proven impact on a client’s business – creativity that effects consumer behavior, brand equity, sales and profit. The judging process will be based on Strategy (25%), Idea (25%) and Results (50%). Only entries that were either shortlisted or Lions winners across all categories in 2010 are eligible to enter. Entries are now closed for this category as the data of all entries submitted is now being checked by PricewaterhouseCoopers. Jean-Marie Dru, Chairman of TBWA Worldwide is the jury president. The jury is made up of both senior agency professionals and clients.

New Award: Lion of St Mark
This new award will be presented on Saturday 25 June to an individual in recognition of their long-standing contribution to creativity in communications. A press release will be issued in the next few weeks to announce the recipient of this first ever honour.

Cannes for Clients - a Marketers Guide to Cannes Lions 2011
With more and more Clients attending the Festival – last year 15% of the delegates were from Client companies – and even more expected to attend this year, we have created the Cannes for Clients, a Marketers Guide to Cannes Lions 2011. The guide is available both as a PDF and PowerPoint presentation and is a useful tool for any new Client who wants to know more about the Festival or who will be attending for the first time. You can download these documents from the Representatives Portal

Young Suits Registration – account services & planning, 28 years or under
Cannes Lions has introduced a new package for the next generation of people working in planning and account services, giving them the unique opportunity to entertain existing clients, network with more than 400 major global brands, and see the power of great creative communications first-hand. It is priced the same as the Young Lions 4-day and full week registrations.

Cannes Creative Academy for Young Marketers
Launching this year, young marketers and brand managers working within a client organisation can join a tailor-made week-long learning programme. A maximum of 35 places are available. More details will be sent within the next couple of weeks, but if you have clients that would be interested in sending somebody, please have them contact Steve Latham stevelatham@canneslions.com

YouTube & Cannes Lions ‘Good Work’
‘Good Work’ is a project we’re doing with YouTube where not-for-profit organisations can post briefs in video format to www.youtube.com/goodwork and then creatives can pick a brief and answer it by uploading a 60 second video. This video doesn’t need to be a commercial – it can also be a video presentation of a strategy or a video of an execution in a different format. Deadline for submission is 9 May. The jury for this is headed by Craig Davis, Chief Creative Officer of Publicis Mojo. The prize is a free trip to Cannes for 5 winners (including hotel, flight, delegate pass and a per diem).

CannesAlso
A special photography exhibition in partnership with the Brand Union and Lambie-Nairn will be available to view during the Festival. Located in front of the Palais des Festivals, it will add another dimension to the Festival’s celebration of Creativity. Anyone can enter up to three images via www.canneslions.com/also . It’s free to enter. World renowned photographer Rankin has been confirmed as a guest judge for Cannes Also 2011, working with The Brand Union and Lambie-Nairn to select the images that will be part of the inaugural exhibition.
The deadline for submission is 29 April.

Cannes Lions App
A Cannes Lions App for iPhone, iPad and Android compatible devices will be launched very soon. Features will include the Festival programme, a Cannes city map, live winners updates, news, videos, photos, special deals, accommodation guide, transport options and recommended bars and restaurants. A later version of the app will include Cannes Connect and a winners section.

Airline offers and other special offers for delegates
As well as benefiting from reduced accommodation rates (hotels, serviced apartments, villas,) this year in addition, delegates can enjoy special deals on helicopter transportation, member airlines of Star Alliance, airport transportation, bars, spas and restaurants. For information, please click on

Classroom in the Palais for visiting universities and schools
We will make available in the Palais a classroom for visiting universities and schools to take advantage of. It can be booked for a certain amount of time and we can help find speakers.
For enquiries, please contact Steve Latham stevelatham@canneslions.com

Tour of the Exhibitions for Young Creatives and Students
This year there will be organised tours of the exhibitions for Young Creatives and students. Once a day, a senior creative will share their insights into the creative process behind the work, sharing their knowledge and insights. This is a really fantastic opportunity for the younger generation, so do pass on the message!

Continuing on from last year:
Cannes Connect
Is an online networking tool that launched last year to assist delegates to get in touch with other delegates before arriving in Cannes, facilitating meeting-up with other like-minded people during the Festival. It is now up and running. Currently it works like this:
•   If you attended in 2010, you can still use it and contact other 2010 people and only see 2011 attendees, not contact them.
•   If you’re registered to attend this year, but didn’t attend in 2010, you can contact others who are registered to attend this year, and only see people who attended last year, not contact them.
•   If you attended last year and are also registered for this year, you can contact anyone.
Late April, we’re adding message boards and the ability to share your ‘planned Festival calendar’ with people.

The Cannes Creative Leaders Programme
Is a two-week training initiative for industry executives taking place at the Berlin School of Creative Leadership for one week and at Cannes during the second week. After the success of last year, this programme will once again run this year. For more information, please click on
http://www.canneslions.com/festival/creative_leaders_prog...
Once again three bursaries will be awarded to countries that have never won a Gold Lion. The winners will be announced shortly.

“How to Cannes”
For newcomers to Cannes Lions or for those who haven’t attended for a while where a Festival veteran will share top tips on how to maximise the Cannes experience during a daily half hour session at 09:30hrs. This was very popular last year and is a great way to help Cannes first timers.

Beach Football tournament
Back after popular demand, we will once again be organising a five-a-side beach football competition sponsored by EuroSport where 16 national teams made up of delegates will play against each other over two days, Tuesday 21 and Wednesday 22 June. We have some team space available, so if you want a team to represent your country, please contact Ray Suitters ( rays@canneslions.com).

YouTube 48 hour competition
As last year YouTube will once again be running their 48 hour competition which will launch in May. Further details will follow nearer the time
