Solom'n
Ivan Nicholas Holt, better known as Solom'n, was born in Pomona, CA but raised in Fort Worth, TX. As a child, he was not allowed to listen to secular music, being that his family was very religious, but he would always find ways to listen to it. His love for Hip Hop continued through high school but it wasn't until the summer after he graduated that he began rapping himself.
At the time when he began his hip hop career, he was into Gospel Hip Hop. After a 2 year hiatus, he began developing a new sound that became of mix of the spoken word and rap. Now with a new mission and a journey to take, Solom’n took his new found inspiration and brought it all to his audiences around the world.
Solom’n new lead single “Gotham City” is off of his debut CD “Wisdom of Solom’n”. This single makes a comparison between our own salvation to the fictional Gotham City of the famed ‘Batman’ movies. It exposes the negative issues in our inner cities that are often never discussed and buried along with lost souls and dreams. This song begins with a serious tone and the story begins to be told. In reminiscent of the old rap tunes, Solom’n takes us back to its origin bringing faith into the picture. The beat is there along with a hip hop rhythm and those lyrics that take you through a journey and back. This single is representative of the entire CD as it takes you through specific situations that go on in the city. It has depth, radio appeal, relevant to today’s situations and very memorable.
Solom’n played in Brownwood, Texas Reunion in from of over 2000 attendees. He also played at Howard Payne University in from of over 600 attendees. He played at Six Flags in Texas with over 200 in attendance and has opened for the #1 Gospel Hip Hop Artist, Lecrae.
