The American Cancer Society began its Relay for Life initiative in 1985 in efforts to raise awareness and raise funds for the fight against cancer. The Relay has since become the world’s largest movement to end the disease. Every year, over 3.5 million people in 5,000 communities across the United States, as well as communities in 19 other countries, gather to take part in this overnight rally. Since its 1985 inception, Relay for Life has raised over $3.5 billion in the fight against cancer. Pono Kai will be participating with the Relay Team (Pono Kai O'hana), with a fundraising goal of $2,000.
