April 13, 2011 - PRLog -- Raleigh, NC – Creative writing students at Ravenscroft School in Raleigh heard from award-winning author Jon Batson during the Career Week Lunch held at the school. Students interested in writing as a career met with the lyricist and author to discuss the mindset, how-tos, benefits and pitfalls regarding this career choice.

“Being able to encourage young writers to follow their creative dreams, develop their writing skills, and the importance of reading other authors were three tips I shared with the students,” said Batson.  He also answered questions regarding the differences, benefits and drawbacks of self publishing versus traditional publishing.

Batson is the author of eight novels and a number of award-winning short stories in a variety of genres.  His most recent novel Terminal Research is the third in a series of fact-based-fiction conspiracy books that feature investigative journalist Jack Richmond.
