April 13, 2011 - PRLog -- A charity ball is being held in Norwich to raise funds for an under-threat project that helps young people with eating disorders.

The ‘Spring Mela’ at the Oasis Indian Restaurant, on May 5, will support the work of the youth project run by Norfolk Eating Disorders Association (NEDA).

The youth project is currently funded by Children in Need, but a decision will soon be made on whether this funding is to continue.

The ball has been organised by Dr Kiran Chitale, consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist and Dr Emma Went, specialist registrar at Norfolk and Waveney Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust, which has close links with NEDA.

“NEDA has done great work with young people struggling with eating disorders, and the two organisations have recently started to work together more closely,” said Dr Chitale.

“It would be a great shame if NEDA lost its funding. I felt that arranging a charity event could boost morale, aid the cause and raise awareness amongst professionals, wider stakeholders and the public.”

Tickets for the Spring Mela at the Oasis restaurant, on Queen’s Road, cost £25. The event starts at 7pm on Thursday, May 5, and will comprise a three-course meal, a complimentary glass of wine, and music. It is hoped that Indian dancers will also be present to provide entertainment.
