Teacher Training Workshop Conducted at Jamuna Mishra Academy JMA Pilani Rajasthan

PRLog (Press Release) - Apr. 12, 2011 - Established in the year 2004 JMA which has been making rapid strides in early childhood education is presently one among the top ranking and most sought after schools at Pilani Rajasthan. Located in the heart of Shekhawati region of Rajasthan, Pilani is well known for various educational institutions, CSIR Laboratory CEERI as well as the upcoming BrahMos Missile Assembly Project unit. A noteworthy fact is that the girl student enrollment has been steadily rising every year in JMA and is presently close to 50% of total strength which itself is a matter of pride in a state which had alarmingly low record of girl’s education.

JMA which is well known for conducting regularly the annual medical checkups for all children with the help of leading medical practitioners of Pilani, has a rich tradition of celebrating various events of not only national importance like Republic Day, Independence Day, Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, National Science Day, National Education Day, Children’s Day etc but also of international importance such as World Health Day, International Women’s Day, World water Day, World Sparrow day, World Sight Day, Grand Parents Day, Earth Day etc.

The teacher strength at JMA also has grown from 5 in 2004 to 21 presently. JMA which started in 2004 with an enrollment of 60 students for the Nursery, LKG, First Junior and Class1 has grown today till Class VIII with well over 8 times the enrollment. It is a matter of pride that this year over a hundred new children have taken admissions to JMA which itself is a record for the school.

JMA Pilani firmly believes that success of the educational process depends on the quality, commitment and expertise of the teachers and that this dependence is further enhanced due to the growing as well as changing needs of the children and the frequent changes in curriculum and teaching methodology. As an ongoing process and school policy for Human Resources Development, the Principal organized a teacher training workshop on April 7, 2011 at the School premises.

The workshop was conducted by Prof Sangeeta Sharma and Dr Devika well known faculty from the Languages Department of Birla Institute of Technology and Science – BITS Pilani. Dr Sangeeta who has a whole array of publications and books to her credit is also a licensed trainer for Springboard Development Program (U.K.), which is internationally recognized women's development program. Dr Devika’s professional interests include Feminism, creative writing and Film Criticism.

The highly interactive way of conducting the workshop using conventional and modern methods by Dr Sangeeta and Dr Devika won the hearts of all the participants. Principal Mrs Booma Natarajan thanking the two experts said that there was no doubt that the workshop will shape the widening of the thinking process and broadening of the quality and ability of the JMA teachers as well as help them in enriching their mind, developing creativity and in better understanding of Child Psychology.
