Announcing the International Association of Professional Nonprofit Directors (IAPND)

Nonprofit organizations are facing a crisis in leadership. It is expected that over 600K leadership positions will be vacant in the next five years with a dwindling pool of experienced leaders for organizations to choose from. IAPND to the rescue.

April 12, 2011 - PRLog -- Atlanta, Georgia—Non-profit organizations are facing a crisis in leadership.  Baby-boomers founded many of these organizations and will head into retirement over the next 5-10 years creating a 600,000+ deficit of experienced nonprofit leaders.  Many non-profit directors bring little experience to the table and attempt to operate an organization with an untrained Board of Directors unsure of how to assist a new director.

“After years of working in the non-profit arena, it is apparent there is a need to support and develop non-profit leaders to increase the qualified pool, help retain quality leaders and improve professionalism in the field,”  Shawn Marie Paul, President & CEO, The Break Away Group, LLC and author of Life in Motion.

In an attempt to develop future professional leaders, The Break Away Group, LLC is launching the International Association of Professional Non-Profit Directors (IAPND), a membership-based program for aspiring directors, current directors and board of directors.  Currently, the Break Away Group, LLC provides organizational and leadership development services along with a weekly Action Tips eNewsletter and seeks to expand that effort to more directly impact the nonprofit field.

The web-based membership site will offer international networking opportunities, a question and answer forum, idea sharing, sustainability ideas, leadership and board training, tips, advice, resources and one-on-one coaching.  The site content will come from members and site administrators.

Registration is open at http://www.iapnd.com.  As membership grows, so will the content.  IAPND provides targeted information, training and resources specific to the membership level.

According to Thomas J. Tierney at Stanford Social Innovation Review, “Many nonprofit organizations struggle to attract and retain the talented senior executives they need to convert dollars into social impact.”

“Non-profit directors wear the hats of every department head we would find in a for-profit company and often with little or no training.  We seek to provide a venue to elevate the creativity, professionalism and retention of the non-profit executive director and volunteer board members,” says Shawn Marie Paul.
