Tri-City Hospital Foundation Welcomes New Board Members

“Going Vertical” – New Leadership Brings New Energy to Board
By: Tobi Ferguson

April 11, 2011 - PRLog -- As part of its mission to strengthen its governance and increase its visibility in the community, the Tri-City Hospital Foundation has almost tripled the size of its board of trustees by adding 17 new community members. “We’re going vertical, bringing in new leadership and business initiatives,” said Tobi C. Ferguson, the Foundation’s chief executive officer at a board retreat welcoming new members. “We, as a group, need to be futurists, looking forward and creating a vision of success and longevity for the Foundation,” said Ferguson.

The welcome included a video presentation featuring the mayors of Oceanside, Carlsbad and Vista and local leaders sharing the message of the importance of the Foundation and the new energy and vitalization these members bring to the board.

“The challenge is great, but it’s not insurmountable,” city of Carlsbad mayor Matt Hall told incoming board members of the Tri-City Hospital Foundation. “You have a really important role to play within the community.”

These new board members are community leaders who are eager to make a powerful impact. They are entrusted with the task of building and writing the next chapter for the Foundation and creating a sense of stewardship, independence and trust that will serve the Foundation and the Tri-City Medical Center for decades to come.

Immediate goals for the board include: reinvesting in critical hospital services and facilities (and adding new ones), conducting aggressive public outreach to customers and exploring community needs in Oceanside, Carlsbad and Vista. The new members will actively engage the community to promote philanthropic support of Tri-City Medical Center.

Tri-City Medical Center is a full-service hospital with physicians practicing in 60 specialties. The medical center is administered by the Tri-City Healthcare District, which includes most of Carlsbad, Oceanside and Vista.

Tri-City Hospital Foundation is a link between the community and the hospital. Since its creation in 1964, the Foundation has raised over $39 million. Many of the hospital's most mission-critical facilities have been supported in whole or part by Foundation initiatives.

Building on this legacy of strength, the current Board of Trustees has selected a contingent of proven leaders to help us meet the ever increasing healthcare demands in our community.
