Valley Center, Glendora, CA 91741 Festival Hours: Friday May 20, 2011-6PM -11PM Saturday May 21, 2011-2PM-11PM Sunday May 22, 2011-12:30PM- Take advantage of Free Admission, carnival style Rides, Food, Games, a Beer Garden, Bingo, a $10,000 raffle, Silent Auction, Battle of the Bands, Live Entertainment, Cake Decorating Contest, Cake Walk, a New Photo Booth, and fun for everyone! Over 30 years ago the church of St. Dorothy wanted to create an event that could bring the community of Glendora together as well raise money for the church and it’s growing parish. EVENT GOAL The goal of the Oak Tree Festival is to help create a positive community event that introduces new people to our church, and increases community connections. Funds raised support the parish and it‘s ministries. THE NEED Without the support of sponsors and volunteers we would not be able to hold the churches much needed annual fundraiser. The success of this event is credited largely to our sponsors, who lend their names and financial support to the event. The money we raise each year goes to our parish and its ministries, this year’s fundraising goal is $200,000 dollars. Please contact Kelly Gauer at 626.272.4823 for more information. EVENT ATTENDEES Each year our festival draws in more than 50,000 attendees of all ages and ethnicities. Many families came to enjoy the variety of kids’ activities; couples and single people of all ages enjoyed the live music and rides, beer garden and games. EVENT LOCATION The Oak Tree Festival is held Annually at St. Dorothy’s Church’s 4 Acre compound, which is located on the West side of Glendora High School at 241 S. Valley Center, Glendora, CA 91741 Cake Decorating Contest Entry Guidelines and Official Contest Rules The 2011 Oak Tree Festival is holding its first Cake Decorating Contest to take place at the event on Friday May 20. Second Prize for each category is $50, + 1 Oak Tree Festival Ride Pack (valued at over $110), recognition and picture on our website, exposure to over 50,000 festival visitors. DETAILS Date of competition: Set up begins at 4 p.m. Competition begins at 6 p.m. Judging will begin at 8 p.m. The audience will purchase Cake Walk tickets to win cake entries PROCEEDS Proceeds of the Oak Tree Festivals First Annual Cake Decorating Contest will be used to improve our school. HOW TO ENTER: Entrants will submit registration form and fee for all Cake entries by Noon on Monday, May 9, 2011 in one of the following ways: Mail, Email, Online. 3. EVENT DETAILS: The first Annual Oak Tree Festival Cake Decorating Contest will be held on May 20, 2011 in the Anyta Doyle Building at St. Dorothy Church. Contestants may begin setting up at 3 p.m. All Entries must be set up no later than 5:30pm and judging begins at 7pm. If a contestant does not check-in with the stage manager by 1 p.m. they will be disqualified. No other contestant will be chosen as a replacement. It is the sole responsibility of the contestant to coordinate arrangements for the contest entry. Please also bring a brief written description of the live competition cake’s design instructions, materials needed, and business information if available. 4. ELIGIBILITY: 5. Selection of the winning contestants will be determined by a panel of 3 judges as well as through Audience voting. 6. Oak Tree Festival Committee, The BEST of Fall Home Show, and Event Marketing Group reserve the right at their sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process or otherwise violates said contest rules. 7. Oak Tree Festival Committee, and affiliated companies and/or sponsors of St. Dorothy Church are not responsible for a person's inability to complete the required entry whether due to equipment malfunction or other difficulties and are not responsible for lost entries. All entries submitted become the property of Oak Tree Festival Committee and will not be returned. 8. By submitting an entry, contestants agree to be bound by the rules of the contest and agree that the sponsoring companies shall have the right; free of charge, to publish and broadcast by any means the names and photographs of the winners and the winning cakes for news and promotional purposes. 9. Prize winners are responsible for any federal, state, and local taxes as well as any additional expenses incurred with said contest or use of the prize - including transportation, gasoline, parking fees, food, and/or other ancillary expenses. 10. All decisions of all judging panels are final. Sponsors reserve the final judgment on all matters pertaining to this contest including the right to change or modify the rules and discontinue or extend the contest without prior notice. GUIDELINES: A. Cake must be listed as Fancy or Fun B. Cakes will be judged on: (1) artistic expression related to theme; (2) originality; C. In both the submitted photo entry and final competition the cake decorating idea must be your own. It can, however, be your interpretation of an idea you have seen elsewhere. D. No assistants/assistance allowed, except during the set-up hour. E. Contestants will be asked to bring to the Festival an additional sheet cake that serves approximately 40 people that will be sampled by the live audience during the cake decorating competition and/or at the completion of judging. The sheet cake does not have to be decorated to the same extent as the competition cake, but we ask that it be frosted and flavored to match the competition cake. F. Cake can be any shape and any number of layers and flavor. There is no height limit. G. Frosting: Icing must be butter cream or fondant. H. Presentation Board: Contestants must supply their own presentation board or foundation, not to exceed 2" x 2". I. All parts of cake must be edible, with exception of plastic plates, pillars and supports for tiered cakes. Toothpicks, wires and non-edible stamens are allowed in the creation of sugar flowers or other decorations. J. Supplies: The Oak Tree Festival will provide all entrants with a 3-foot display table, chair, water access, and electricity. End
