The Function Builder feature of SolidWorks defines motor or force profiles from an imported data set, mathematical expressions or from interpolated functions along connected segments. For motor profiles, the user can specify time, cycle angle, or any result as the independent variable. For Motion Analysis studies, users can compute and plot the reflected load mass for linear motors and the reflected load inertia for rotary motors. Users can also select reference components for components mated for linearly coupled motion. When required, reference components are selected when one specifies linear/linear coupler mates in the Mates Property Manager. For Motion Analysis studies, users define a path mate motor to specify displacement, velocity, or acceleration values as a body moves along a path.
The utilization of this type of technology empowers the client to know if there are mechanical or design issues before building a prototype. This will save businesses time and money, as well as allow for quicker product turnover which puts product on the selling floor much sooner.
