Estate Attorney from The Woodlands Speaks to Ministry Students at Abilene Christian University

David Meredith, Estate Planning Attorney From The Woodlands, Texas, Addresses University Students on Legal and Financial Issues For Ministers.
April 7, 2011 - PRLog -- Estate Planning attorney, David Meredith recently spoke to a group of ministry students at Abilene Christian University on legal and financial issues for ministers.  As a former youth minister, Meredith has a special understanding of the challenges and duties of ministers and is able to easily communicate about the financial and legal issues and pitfalls that ministers may encounter.  Meredith focuses his practice in comprehensive estate planning, estate administration, probate, entity formation, and charitable and nonprofit law.

Meredith’s presentation included information on personal financial planning, budgeting and investing, estate planning, special income tax laws for ministers including the advantages and disadvantages of opting out of social security, the ministerial housing allowance, and employment law issues.  When asked about this speaking engagement, Meredith stated, “It was a great opportunity for me to give back to my Alma Mater and help prepare students for a positive experience in leadership positions with local churches.”  

Meredith served as a youth minister for approximately ten years and worked with two large congregations in the Houston area (1960 and The Woodlands) and one congregation in Austin.  During his tenure in full-time ministry he completed his Master of Arts in Religion from Abilene Christian University in 2001.  He graduated from South Texas College of Law in 2008, where he participated in mock trial and was awarded a “Best Speaker” award in the Garland Walker Mock Trial Competition.  During law school he served as a Judicial Clerk to the Honorable Judge K. Michael Mays, 410th District Court, Montgomery County, Texas.  

Meredith recently established the Meredith Law Firm, PC where he focuses his practice on comprehensive estate planning, probate, estate administration, small business formation, and charitable and nonprofit law.  His office is located in The Woodlands, Texas where he works with clients located in the South Montgomery and North Harris county areas.  Meredith is a Qualified Kingdom Advisor (www.kingdomadvisors.org), a group of Christian Financial Professionals.  He is also a member of Wealth Counsel (www.wealthcounsel.com) and a certified mediator.  He has developed the Legacy Planning Process which he uses in his practice to facilitate estate planning.
