Branded Entertainment Pioneers O2 Media welcomes Cisco, as they introduce viewers to the innovative advancements they’ve accomplished through their 21st Century Schools Initiative. Make sure to tune in to ‘The Balancing Act’ April, 19th at 7:00am (ET/PT) as they air on Lifetime Television.

When Hurricane Katrina devastated the U.S. Gulf Coast region in August 2005, its impact on schools was severe. Buildings were damaged, students were displaced, and many employees found themselves working from makeshift classrooms and offices. However, this historic disaster also presented an opportunity for education leaders to rethink their strategy and focus on empowering students to thrive in the 21st century.

‘The Balancing Act’ also welcomes Mary de Wysocki, Director of Corporate Affairs for Cisco.  In the upcoming segment ‘The Balancing Act’ cameras travel to New Orleans to follow Mary and show host Beth Troutman.  Together they share with viewers the innovative ways Cisco has contributed in preparing teachers for the 21st century, and how’s it impacted the students.

Cisco established the 21st Century Schools Initiative (21S) aimed at helping local communities rise above the devastation of the hurricane and build an innovative model of education delivery for the 21st century.

To realize this vision, eight districts in the region partnered with Cisco to rebuild their schools and develop a framework for change. With support from the Mississippi and Louisiana Departments of Education, Cisco developed public-private partnerships in these districts. This special edition of ‘The Balancing Act’ focuses on one district in Louisiana, the Jefferson Parish Public School System (JPPSS), where Jefferson Parish School Superintendent, Diane Roussel will also join the show.

“Having Cisco join ‘The Balancing Act’ brings yet another great solution to viewers, one that will have a real impact and help them balance their lives,” says Doug Campbell, Founder and Executive VP of Programming for The Balancing Act.
