April 7, 2011 - PRLog -- The Northwest Cape Coral Neighborhood Association, Inc. (NWNA) and the Cape Coral Police Department and Code Enforcement units will jointly participate in the 15th annual neighborhood Trash Bash cleanup on Saturday, April 16, in conjunction with the Keep Lee County Beautiful and Great American Cleanup Earth Day events. Residents may use their own trash bags or pick up free bags and t-shirts between 8:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. at the Burnt Store Boat Ramp off Burnt Store Road just north of Ceitus Parkway.

Participants will randomly spread out over an area north of Pine Island Road and west of El Dorado Boulevard to pick up trash and debris. Cape Coral Police Department Marine Enforcement and area boat owners will join forces to collect trash from our waterways. Large collection containers will be conveniently located at the Burnt Store Boat Ramp and throughout the area to receive filled bags and large items.

Absentee property owners and Realtors® who have not checked on old “for sale” signs in some time are advised to check on them before April 16th to ensure they are still standing. Old, fallen signs have been a big litter problem in the past and will be discarded if they are on the ground.

“We actively urge homeowners and businesses all year round to be vigilant about keeping their properties free of trash that can blow around and get trapped in vegetation,” said NWNA President Stella Peters. “The Northwest Neighborhood Association has been a leader in Cape Coral in reducing litter by getting stronger trash containment laws enacted. With stronger laws and more awareness in keeping litter down, our neighborhood has greatly improved its appearance over just a few years ago.”

All residents and property owners in Northwest Cape Coral are urged to participate in this neighborhood cleanup effort. It is a great time to improve the look of the neighborhood, as well as get outside and meet new friends and neighbors. For more information, visit http://www.nwcape.com.
