Independent healthcare provider Care UK rolls out streamlined diagnostic services
IMS MAXIMS solutions supports three specialist diagnostic centres to enhance patient care throughout England
Healthcare Computing, ICC Birmingham, 6th April 2011 - Care UK - one of the country’s most respected independent operators of GP practices, out-of-hours services, NHS walk-in centres, and Clinical Assessment and Treatment Services (CATS) – has selected IMS MAXIMS for roll-out at its three specialist diagnostic centres. The new solution will provide Care UK with the technological platform to help deliver streamlined diagnostic services, of the highest standard.
Commissioned by the NHS as part of a government initiative to provide additional facilities to effectively meet the challenge of increasing access to healthcare, the centres offer a range of diagnostic imaging procedures including X-Ray, Ultrasound, Echocardiograms (ECG) and MRI.
The IMS MAXIMS browser-based patient management software solution selected by Care UK for the centres, allows patient data to be handled as efficiently as possible. The Choose & Book (C&B) patient management module enables healthcare staff to electronically manage the ‘patient journey’ in a seamless, streamlined way. It incorporates appointment scheduling, correspondence and performance monitoring systems.
Following the first of the diagnostic centres to go live with IMS MAXIMS - at the Rotherham Community Health Centre in April 2009 - the company’s centres in Havant and High Wycombe have also implemented the solution.
Jardine Barrington-Cook, Head of Business Systems, Care UK said: “The IMS MAXIMS solution is ‘Choose and Book’ compliant which was one of our key priorities, as was its integration capabilities with Pukka-J’s Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS) and Radiology Information System (RIS). Another major advantage is the flexibility and adaptability the solution offers, as well as the robust dependability of the software.”
“IMS MAXIMS ensured the solution design met our functionality objectives, was responsive to the needs and working patterns of both clinical and administrative staff users, and could be implemented seamlessly. It was only a matter of weeks from the initial contract appointment to our first ‘go live’ at Rotherham, so IMS MAXIMS worked closely with us to meet our timescales to ensure the solution’s successful deployment.”
“We found IMS MAXIMS demonstrated an impressive responsiveness to customer needs, willingness to overcome any challenges and commitment to achieving end-user satisfaction.”
For Care UK, IMS MAXIMS is a ‘tried and tested’ systems provider as the company’s advanced software has already been implemented in Care UK’s revolutionary mobile clinical units in Greater Manchester.
The first of their kind in the country, the two state-of-the-
The web-enabled IMS MAXIMS solution, deployed on the mobile units, delivers end-to-end functionality, allowing the staff to electronically manage a complete patient journey from referral through to discharge. This comprehensive capability encompasses outpatient management and administration for the central triage centre, as well as in-depth clinical functions and capabilities within the units.
The solution is designed to reduce the administration burden on staff including consultants, nurses and receptionists as the time required on such tasks is reduced significantly thanks to the connectivity of processes and stages which omits duplication and unnecessary re-keying of details.
The scalability of the solution is another key advantage. This means that tailored products can be added as required to upscale the system to suit growing workloads due to increased patient throughput.
IMS MAXIMS CEO, Shane Tickell, said: “Our solutions are specifically designed to enable healthcare providers to meet their individual business needs and the requirements of end users, whatever the service sector and however diverse the working environment. Our tailored products are also designed to accommodate changing and increasing demands as services evolve.”
“Working with Care UK on both its revolutionary mobile assessment and treatment services and its specialist diagnostic centres, clearly demonstrates the functionality, flexibility, integration capabilities and scalability of our clinical software systems. Our objective is to enable forward-thinking healthcare providers to deliver real benefits to patients and enhance standards of care significantly.”
