April 4, 2011 - PRLog -- Springfield, Ohio — Avetec’s DICE program, an independent, trusted source for HPC and IT technology testing, evaluation, optimization and research, announced today the focus of their sixth annual DICE Alliance conference. This one-day event will be held at Avetec’s facility – National Center for Advanced Modeling and Simulation – in Springfield, Ohio on May 24, 2011.

The conference entitled “HPC Clusters: More Productivity; Less Complexity” will focus on the ever increasing demands on HPC systems, new opportunities for meeting these needs and how organizations are increasing productivity in the face of rising complexity. Rising system complexity, however, need not translate into infrastructures that are more difficult to manage. The speakers will discuss interesting ways they have solved tough infrastructure challenges while reducing the effort to manage their clusters.

Steve Conway, IDC Research Vice President for HPC, will kick off the conference with an insightful keynote focused on the rapidly changing HPC landscape, its challenges and the opportunities moving forward. Other agenda topics include managing complex clusters, effective CPU/GPU architectures, conquering complex data management, delivering on-demand SMP, effectively meeting diverse needs of large user communities, and a look at findings from a large HPC-cloud test bed.

The conference will also feature a panel discussion and opportunities for in-depth discussions. The DICE Alliance 2011 conference will limit participation to 90 attendees.

“The DICE Alliance conferences have proven to provide attendees with thought-provoking discussions, actionable insights and useful contacts for further exploration,” said Al Stutz, co-leader of the DICE program and Avetec’s CIO. “I am confident that this year’s conference will address a multitude of issues important to HPC professionals. I look forward to May 24th.”
