Over 65 organizations will be represented by exhibitors. The job fair will be beneficial for individuals who are looking for a job, thinking about a career change or wanting to learn more about educational opportunities.
Andrea Boehner, Human Resource Advisor of TIAPEI recommends job seekers follow some simple tips to maximize their success at the Summerside Job Fair. “Doing some advance planning for the job fair is really important. Before you arrive, visit the TIAPEI website (www.tiapei.pe.ca)
to learn which organizations are going to be at the job fair and research them.” Boehner encourages job seekers to bring copies of their resume to the job fair to share with prospective employers. Prospective employers are impressed by job seekers who make eye contact, give a firm handshake and are enthusiastic. Finally Boehner adds, “Follow up is critical. Collect business cards from organizations that you wish to follow up with and then call them or send them an email to thank them for meeting you, restate what type of positions you are interested in and your appropriate qualifications.”
Job seekers may also benefit from resending their resume to the prospective employer to ensure that their resume gets a second look and it stands out. Following these simple tips will maximize job seeker success at the Summerside Job Fair.
The Summerside Job Fair is also an important visit for those thinking of a career change or wishing to learn about educational possibilities. A number of sector councils will be at the event to provide details on their respective industries, insight into potential job opportunities, education requirements and other elements of their industries. Holland College and Commercial Safety College will also be at the job fair to highlight the training programs that they offer. The Summerside Job Fair is a convenient all encompassing visit for those looking to explore job, career and educational possibilities.
