WholesalePages reports that the ever increasing popularity of cosmetics amongst the women has eliminated diamonds as their best friends. The escalating sales of beautification products have rung alarming bells for other wholesale industries.

The average spending of a woman on cosmetics is higher than any other expenditure. This interesting fact has been pointed out by WholesalePages. Sources at the site think that this behaviour of the women worldwide is directly in response to what they see on billboards, television, magazines and movies. Over the years, numerous reports and surveys have been conducted which have bore similar results. It also means massive business for cosmetics suppliers.

On an average, a girl generally starts purchasing cosmetics when she hits sixteen. Initially, it all either starts from a simple neon pink glittery lipstick or lip balm but soon enough girls find themselves purchasing mascaras, eye-liners, foundations and other kinds of cosmetic products. The average spending of a girl on cosmetics in a year is around a hundred and twenty pounds. In context with the average span of life for women globally, which falls at around sixty five years, a women is expected to spend over eight thousand pounds on make-up and cosmetics. Such lavish spending on wholesale cosmetics may have its effect on other parallel industries like jewellery but it has not been able to do some major damage. Since jewellery is a part of self beautification and preening, it remains unaffected. Since jewellery items mostly cost a lot more than lipsticks or mascaras, chances are women would be more enticed to buy cheaper cosmetics than spending on expensive jewellery items. Jewellery and cosmetics might be considered rival industries but for most women, both are an essential part of their everyday life.
