Fearless Caregiver Tour History: More than 38,000 caregivers have attended a Fearless Caregiver Conference since Today’s Caregiver magazine started this tour. “We are excited about returning to Miami; this will mark the 105th event held since 1998,” says Gary Barg, Host of the Fearless Caregiver Conferences and Editor-in-Chief of Today’s Caregiver magazine.

Speakers at the upcoming Miami Fearless Caregiver Conference to include:

Agustin Rodriguez, BA – is the Family Caregiver Support Specialist at the Alliance For Aging, Inc. for Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties. He is involved with providing clients and caregivers information. He helps families find services throughout the community, ensuring that whatever their needs are, they are being met or addressed. He works side-by-side with the Elder Help Line. When the Information and Referral Specialists have caregivers in crisis, he handles situations with his expertise. In addition, he is now the Emergency Coordinating Officer for disasters. Working with the Alliance for Aging’s 45 providers, he must make sure that they all have disaster plans in place for their staff and the clients they serve.

Noemi Cruz, MPH, RD, BS – is East Regional Director for Humana Cares, the Complex Care Management Division of Humana, Inc. Humana Cares is a member-centric model which includes care management that occurs in the home of the Humana member. Ms. Cruz oversees the program direction, staff competency and overall management of the field program for 13 states along the East coast.  Previous to her current role, Ms. Cruz functioned as the Coach for Chronic Disease Self-Management Program (CDSMP) at Green Ribbon Health, LLC. Before moving to Florida, Ms. Cruz was Program Coordinator for the Diabetes Education Program Friends In Health, at the Adult Primary Care Clinic at Hartford Hospital, one of the largest hospital complexes in the New England region.

The Rev. Dianne Hudder – is Bereavement Services Manager for VITAS Hospice. The Rev. Hudder is in a 4-Way Covenant with Christ Congregational Church as her home church, the Florida Conference United Church of Christ, and VITAS Innovative Hospice Care, Inc. where she engages in her ministry, serving as Manager of Bereavement Services.

Marina Bravo, LCSW, CMC, with over 20 years of experience is the Geriatric Care Manager and Senior Social Work Clinician at United Homecare. Ms. Bravo provides direct services, clinical supervision to counseling staff and interns and provides clinical oversight of several evidenced-based programs and facilities, community outreach, education and ADRD training.

Dr Gilbert R. Weiner, DO – is the Principal Investigator for Advanced Pharma, and a graduate of Drake University College of Pharmacy with a BS in Pharmacy and a medical degree from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is board certified in family practice and a Certified Physician Investigator under the Association of Pharmaceutical Physician Investigators. Dr. Weiner has been a Principal investigator in over 500 clinical trials over the past 11 years.

Captain Gene Saunders – is the CEO and Founder of Project Lifesaver International. He served as Captain of the Chesapeake, Virginia Police Department where he founded the Chesapeake PD SWAT Team. He established training, certification and operational procedures, commanding for 23 years in 800 operations. He retired in 2001 after 33 years of services. He is married to Jeanne Saunders; they have four children and eight grandchildren.

Reinhart Wiegand –President/CEO and Owner of Molift, Inc. US Division – is a strong advocate for safe patient handling and has a vested interest through his own personal experiences in helping both caregivers ande their patients.

Gary Barg – The event host and moderator. A noted speaker, writer and publisher on caregiving issues since 1995, Gary Barg is founder and Editor-in-Chief of the first national magazine for caregivers, Today’s Caregiver, as well the original online caregiver community, caregiver.com. This will mark the 105th Fearless Caregiver Conference that Mr. Barg has hosted.
